Competitiveness has already become an inherent characteristic of today’s business world. Companies and organizations are increasingly aware of this and have found in employee training a key factor to make a difference. This way, they manage more competent and versatile teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization.

Specifically, programmed training, formerly known as subsidized training, is a strategic tool that allows companies to adapt training programs to their specific needs and enables employees to acquire new skills.

Characteristics of Programmed Training

Programmed training is a government initiative that allows companies to provide training activities to their active employees. It is a credit granted to companies to dedicate to the professional training of their workers.

In this sense, the main characteristic of programmed training is that it is free for employees. At the same time, it represents no cost for the company, which can receive up to 100% reimbursement of the course fees based on the contributions made by companies and employees to Social Security.

The State Foundation for Employment Training (FUNDAE) is the entity responsible for managing and promoting programmed training. The ultimate goal is to enhance and improve employees’ skills to face the challenges and transformations that define the labor market.

Who Can Benefit from Programmed Training?

In the case of self-employed workers with employees, they can also apply for this subsidy, provided that they contribute to professional training. Since they do not have a representative certificate, they must access the platform through the “Self-employed Access Registration” to request registration as a subsidized company and/or organizing entity.

Likewise, all employees working in private companies and contributing to Social Security for Professional Training are eligible for programmed training. In addition, the following individuals may also benefit:

How Much Credit Do Companies Have?

The credit for subsidized training is regulated by the General State Budget established in Law 31/2022 and may vary depending on the company’s size and its history of contributions for professional training. According to current regulations, these are the applicable percentages:

Additionally, small businesses (1 to 5 employees) are guaranteed a minimum credit of €420. This ensures that even companies with limited budgets can access subsidized training for their staff.
