Introduction

In the exciting world of the arts and crafts, artisan blacksmithing holds a special place, as it is a craft that combines technical skills and creativity to shape unique metal pieces. This course focuses on providing the provide participants with the essential knowledge to understand and define the processes involved in the creation of works of hand-forged.

Artisanal metalwork encompasses a wide range of techniques and processes, from the selection of metals and the preparation of tools to the creation of designs, the forging process itself and the final finishing of the pieces. The Participants on this course will gain a thorough understanding of each of these aspects, which will enable them to create works unique and authentic wrought-iron pieces.

Objectives

  • Interpreting and analysing projects using quality and safety criteria, defining the components of handcrafted wrought ironwork.

  • To determine requirements for the supply of materials, tools, equipment, energy and labour based on designs for handcrafted wrought-iron works, in accordance with quality and safety standards.

  • Apply techniques and procedures the preparation of plans for the production of handcrafted wrought-iron pieces, based on criteria of quality and safety.
