Care for the elderly: Comprehensive care for older people – Professional carer
Introduction
Objectives
- To reduce morbidity and mortality amongst older people and maintain good functional capacity, recognising this as an indicator of well-being and health and as the indicator with the greatest predictive value regarding the need for care.
-To make it as easy as possible for people to grow old in their own homes or in an environment in which they feel most comfortable, with an emphasis on promoting rehabilitation programmes covering all those aspects that minimise, as far as possible, the physical, mental or sensory limitations in older people that lead to their dependence.
