Introduction

In the field of arts and crafts, artisanal pottery is a craft that involves creating unique, traditional pieces using time-honoured techniques. To carry out this process of in an effective and satisfactory manner, It is essential to understand and master a number of key elements, such as techniques for identifying parts.

These techniques involve the identification and selection of shapes, suitable dimensions and materials for each piece of handmade pottery. Here, «forms» refers to the layout and design of the piece, whilst «dimensions» refers to size and proportions. Furthermore, the choice of materials, such as the type of clay or glaze, is crucial to achieving the desired result in in terms of texture, colour and durability.

Objectives

  • To study the historical and cultural development of the handcrafted pottery and ceramics.

  • Apply the project methodology in the the production of handcrafted pottery.

  • Apply the manual techniques of graphical representation in the development of pottery products.

  • To analyse the procedures for implementing drawing and colouring techniques.

  • To be familiar with the procedures for applying digital techniques for graphic representation.

  • To identify the processes involved in making handcrafted pottery, based on information about its characteristics and techniques of manufacturing and materials.

  • To determine the requirements for materials, tools, auxiliary equipment, energy and labour in the process of producing handcrafted pottery, in function of the production system.
