Introduction

Our relationship with energy is constantly being redefined, and the construction sector is no exception to these changes. The course Energy in buildings It provides a sound understanding of how heat is transferred in built environments, paving the way for the incorporation of responsible practices that comply with current international and national regulations. We will address the energy implications in new construction, focusing on the Technical Building Code and the Energy Rating from buildings, right through to strategies for improving energy efficiency in existing buildings. This is complemented by a unit dedicated to the energy performance certificate, which is crucial for the valuation and appraisal of properties. By choosing this course, you will delve into the theoretical fundamentals, reinforcing your knowledge of regulations and their practical application, thereby laying the foundations for future specialisations in a field of growing importance. Objectives

  • Understanding how the building energy efficiency in both new and existing buildings, within the energy context in which the building is situated.

  • Understanding the context energy sector and general international and national regulations; detailed knowledge of the Regulatory requirements for new-build buildings.

  • Implement the methodology to implement energy efficiency measures in existing buildings and the energy performance certificate to obtain its rating.
