Introduction

Within the vast field of the arts and crafts, the reproduction of moulds and ceramic pieces 'artesanales' is a field which is of great importance in the professional field of handcrafted glass and ceramics. This course focuses on providing participants with the essential knowledge required to produce moulds for the purpose of replicating ceramic pieces from in an authentic, traditional way.

Mould replication is a a crucial technique that enables craftspeople to create faithful replicas of original pieces, which is valuable both from a with a view to preserving traditional craftsmanship as well as to meet the market demand for unique ceramic products.

Objectives

  • Apply mould preparation procedures for the reproduction of handcrafted ceramic pieces using manual moulding of plastic clay, in accordance with the following criteria: quality and safety, and in accordance with the specifications provided.

  • Apply procedures for the reproduction of parts handcrafted ceramics by using plastic, in accordance with the criteria of quality and safety, in accordance with the specifications provided.

  • Apply mould conditioning processes for the reproduction of handcrafted ceramic pieces made using the slip-casting technique.

  • Apply finishing procedures to handcrafted ceramic pieces produced using moulds, ensuring quality standards of the finished pieces.

  • Apply drying procedures for handcrafted ceramic pieces, ensuring the quality of the finished pieces whilst complying with the standards set out in health and safety at work and environmental safety.
