Competitiveness has now become an inherent feature of today’s business world. Businesses and companies are increasingly aware of this, and have found in the staff training a key factor in making a difference. As a result, they manage more competent and versatile teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organisation.
In fact, the scheduled training, formerly known as subsidised training, is a strategic tool that enables companies to tailor training programmes to their specific needs and allows employees to acquire new skills.
Features of the scheduled training

In this regard, the main feature of the The good thing about this training programme is that it is free for employees. Furthermore, it does not entail any cost for the company, which can reward up to 100% of the cost of the courses, funded by contributions from companies and employees to the Social Security.
The State Foundation for Vocational Training (FUNDAE) is the body responsible for managing and promoting scheduled training. Ultimately, the aim is to enhance and refine employees’ skills so that they can tackle the challenges and changes that characterise the labour market.
Who can benefit from the scheduled training?
All companies operating in Spain that have at least one employee and pay contributions under the Vocational Training for Social Security, will be able to benefit from the scheduled training.
In the case of the self-employed people Employers with staff under their supervision may also opt for this subsidy, provided they make contributions towards vocational training. As they do not hold a representative’s certificate, they must access the application via the ‘Self-employed Access Register’ to apply for registration as a subsidised company and/or organising body.
Furthermore, all employees working in private companies who make Social Security contributions towards vocational training are eligible for the scheduled training. In addition, people in the following situations may also benefit:
- Permanent part-time staff during periods when they are not in use.
- Those who go on to unemployed whilst on training, provided they complete at least 75% of the course.
- Affected by temporary measures to suspend a contract for economic, technical, organisational or production-related reasons, during periods of suspension of employment.
- They are located in sick leave, provided that the training is compatible with the medical condition and, in any event, subject to medical authorisation.
How much credit do companies have available?

- Companies with 250 or more employees: are entitled to 50% of their contributions.
- Companies that take on new employees, whether through the opening of new workplaces or the creation of new jobs: 65 euros for each new employee.
Furthermore, the pesmall businesses (with 1 to 5 employees) are eligible for a guaranteed minimum loan of 420 euros. This ensures that even businesses with the smallest budgets can access subsidised training for their employees.
